From the organizers at World Beyond War. . we cannot afford to continue maintaining the institution of war. We now have the support of people from 88 countries, which shows that our mission truly resonates around the world. The core team of World Beyond War organizers have accomplished a good deal on a shoestring budget and hundreds of volunteer hours. Some examples are: Over 20,000 people have joined our email list, and over 8,000 have signed our pledge, as have almost 200 organizations Notable signatories such as Mairead Maguire, Noam Chomsky, Cindy Sheehan, Medea Benjamin, and Johan Galtung Public speaking at multiple events Comprehensive website Growing global speakers bureau Assisted numerous campaigns and actions by allied groups Created popular resources including a calendar of historical and current peace events, maps of militarism on earth, and evidence supported talking points on topics of war and peace Built alliances within the broader peace movement to move it in the direction of opposing all war from a global perspective, rather than only opposing particular wars Ongoing media and social media information and education on current wars and viable nonviolent alternatives We have now reached a point that in order to expand our outreach globally and move forward to developing campaigns and actions that can work towards the eradication of war, we need your financial assistance. At World Beyond War we know that the majority of people in this world want war to end. We believe it is possible, but we know that it won’t be easy, and it won’t happen quickly. There is no honor in having been part of something that is wrong.  - Donald Duncan  Here are some veterans to love and honor this Veterans Day: Donald Duncan, who resigned from the Green Berets in protest of the Vietnam War   Dr. Howard Levy, who was imprisoned for refusing to train Green Berets troops in Vietnam   Oliver Hirsch and the Nine for Peace, who refused deployment to Vietnam   Keith Mather, Randy Rowland, and the Presidio 27, who were charged with treason for protesting the murder of an inmate in the Presidio Stockade   Susan Schnall, who dropped thousands of antiwar leaflets over her base in San Francisco   Elder Halim Gullahbemi and the Ft. Hood 43, African American soldiers jailed for resisting being sent to Chicago to attack demonstrators at the Democratic National Convention   Carl Dix and the Ft. Lewis Six, jailed in federal prison for refusing deployment to Vietnam   Louis Font, who went from a career officer studying at Harvard to federal prison for refusing deployment to Vietnam   John Huyler and Ron McMahan, Navy officers who led a campaign to keep the aircraft carrier USS Constellation from returning to Vietnam   Tom Bernard and the WORMS (We Openly Resist Military Stupidity), who, assigned to send “bomb damage” reports to Washington, did all they could to resist the Vietnam War   Terry Whitmore, who joined the untold numbers of GIs who deserted the Vietnam War   Jerry Lembcke, who exposed and debunked the myth of protesters spitting on Vietnam Vets   Dave Cline and the thousands of active duty soldiers, sailors and marines who wrote and distributed hundreds of underground GI newspapers and built an antiwar movement that massively disrupted the military and played a huge role in ending the Vietnam War   The Vietnam Veterans Against the War who exposed the imperial, genocidal nature of the Vietnam War and hurled their medals onto the Capital steps   The Iraq Veterans Against the War who exposed the imperial, genocidal nature of the Iraq War and hurled their medals at a NATO summit   Camilo Mejia and all of the Iraq and Afghanistan soldiers who have refused deployment to those wars   Chelsea Manning     And that’s just to name a few.     Honor those who deserve the gratitude of humanity     Sir!
