This Book Turns Everything You Thought You Knew About North Korea Upside Down

Jeremy Kuzmarov: "How 70 years of CIA deceit and mainstream media complicity convinced the American public that North Korea was the Bad Guy and the U.S. was the Good Guy—when it was almost always the other way around...

A.B. Abrams’ new book, 'Immovable Object: North Korea’s 70 Years at War with American Power' (Clarity Press, 2020), shows that the common perceptions in the U.S. of North Korea are mostly wrong... Abrams’ book is most significant in helping readers to understand the DPRK’s long staying power and in debunking media stereotypes, which have helped validate aggressive regime-change policies.

As much as Americans think that the North Koreans are crazy, North Koreans have far more grounds for believing that the reverse holds true. They are the ones holding the upper moral hand in a conflict that was started by the United States and needs to be ended by it."

Who Are the Ultimate War Profiteers?

U.S. Air Force Veteran Removes the Veil

Christian Sorensen: "While war corporations, or so-called “defense contractors,” make billions in profits, Wall Street is the ultimate beneficiary of today’s nonstop wars. The prosaic nature of war profiteering—far from the work of a shadowy cabal—is precisely why the collusion is so destructive and should be outlawed.

The U.S. ruling class deploys the military for three main reasons: (1) to forcibly open up countries to foreign investment, (2) to ensure the free flow of natural resources from the global south into the hands of multinational corporations, and (3) because war is profitable.

The third of these reasons, the profitability of war, is often lacking detail in analyses of U.S. imperialism: The financial industry, including investment banks and private equity firms, is an insatiable force seeking profit via military activity..."

Christian Sorensen is an Air Force veteran and author of the new book entitled 'Understanding the War Industry'.

“Sanctions and drift.”

America’s alienating addiction.

Marshall Auerback, James W. Carden, and Patrick Lawrence: “...China and the E.U. signed what is commonly judged the most far-reaching investment accord Beijing has ever negotiated.

Biden’s foreign policy people, notably Jake Sullivan, the new national security adviser, were immediately aggrieved. Why didn’t those Europeans ask us about it first, Sullivan wondered on Twitter. Memo to Sullivan: Because they knew very well that all you had to say was, “Please don’t,” perhaps without the “Please.”

...The more fully independent Europe is likely to aim to be a balancing power between East and West… As far as relations with Washington go, it will be transactional: We invest in them, they invest in us. But it won’t be a quasi-colonial relationship in which the American government effectively dictates foreign and, more specifically, defense policy.

From Europe’s perspective there is no need any longer for an American security umbrella, since there are no great-power threats to them, including from China (which simply wants their IP and cash and markets, not their territory)… Russia isn’t going to invade

If nothing else, the experience of a once war-torn Europe evolving into a far more stable European Union should suggest that an alternative paradigm is possible if its members seize the opportunity. In the best of outcomes, the thought will eventually light upon the divisive, sanctions-happy U.S., although that seems a bridge too far for the time being.”

Michael Hudson - Changes in Superimperialism:

The Position of the USA and China in our Global Economic System

“...Nearly 50 years after the original publication of ‘Superimperialism’, Michael Hudson revisits how the lucrative dollar-based economic system that the US set up after WWII has evolved with the rise of China and the Covid-19 pandemic.

What financial weapons is the US likely to use, and does China's de-dollarisation protect it from such attacks?

The book provides a detailed analysis of how the US has used its economic might to control international relations. The book is complicated, but essentially documents how after WWII the US held an unprecedented amount of the world's gold reserves (50%). These reserves were depleted with the incursion into Korea, and subsequent involvement in Viet Nam, requiring the US to abandon the "gold standard" for valuing world currencies. A failure that proved itself valuable, pushing the US to develop multiple strategies that today allow it to make other countries pay for its military dominance…”

The CIA is a Terrorist Organization

“The CIA is responsible for some of the worst crimes in modern history. The death toll from the wars and unrest caused by the CIA, not to mention their many outright murders, is staggering. In this episode, we'll take a look at just a few of the many examples of CIA terrorism, and discuss what should be done...”

SHOULD THE USA REJOIN THE INTERNATIONAL NUCLEAR AGREEMENT WITH IRAN?

Be aware, the strategy of the US now may be to use lies, half-truths, fear mongering and false narratives to convince the public that Iran is secretly seeking nuclear weapons, and is putting unreasonable conditions on the US rejoining the nuclear agreement in order to make it fail. In my humble opinion, Iran’s stated position is completely correct re the JCPOA, the UN-recognized international nuclear agreement. The USA is the problem, not Iran!

The USA never fully honored the JCPOA even under Obama, and then Trump walked away from it and massively increased illegal sanctions and economic warfare against Iran, including piracy at sea and criminal assassinations!

The European partners to the deal never did enough to stand up to the gangsters in Washington and resist the sanctions. So really Iran honored the agreement all along, and got precisely nothing of benefit from it. Except perhaps buying some time to improve their defenses. Now the double-crossing USA regime will be up to their usual old tricks of lies and deceptions yet again, with no honorable intentions.

It would be national suicide for Iran to accept any restrictions on its right to self defense and independence, including missiles, and its peaceful nuclear program.

Iran’s low enrichment to 20% is way short of the 90% required for nuclear weapons. It is for its legal peaceful nuclear program, including producing medical isotopes. Iran is a member of the Non-proliferation Treaty, and subject to the most stringent IAEA inspections, with no evidence of a nuclear weapons program.

Scaremongering about Iran getting nukes is comparable to the deliberate lies about non-existent weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. It is propaganda to sell a war. Israel has nuclear weapons, not Iran!

Really, the JCPOA is of no further use to Iran. They would be well within their rights to insist on their terms with zero compromise: USA rejoins the deal, if they wish, but must end ALL sanctions first, and with no negotiated changes to the original agreement.

Meanwhile, Iran must further develop their self-defense missiles, drones and asymmetrical warfare to effectively deter anyone stupid enough to attack them. Even closer military and economic co-operation with both Russia and China would be advantageous.

The price for attacking Iran is now so great that Iran doesn’t need the JCPOA. They can stand firm and put the sole blame for the JCPOA’s demise on the USA and the gutless European partners!

Iran has been incredibly patient in the face of lies and relentless attacks against it, especially from the USA and Israel, who are hell-bent on provoking another disastrous war of imperialist aggression in the Middle East. The world must say: “Enough!”

A Secret Australia Revealed By Wikileaks Exposés

In 'A Secret Australia' (Monash University Publishing) eighteen prominent Australians discuss what Australia has learnt about itself from the WikiLeaks revelations – revelations about a secret Australia of hidden rules and loyalty to hidden agendas.

Join Jennifer Robinson (barrister and member of the legal team acting for Julian Assange and WikiLeaks since 2010) and Peter Cronau (investigative journalist, producer of ABC's Four Corners and co-editor of the book) for a fascinating discussion.

Why the Biden administration has set itself up for failure on the Iran nuclear deal

Scott Ritter: “By laying out unrealistic demands to Iran and engaging in fearmongering about its nuclear program, Secretary of State Tony Blinken has underscored America’s real intent about rejoining the controversial agreement...

...Iran has begun the process to enrich uranium to 20 percent, and convert that uranium to metal. This would be used to produce fuel plates needed to power a research reactor in Tehran used to produce medical isotopes... by converting the 20 percent enriched uranium into metallic fuel plates, Iran has made it impossible to use this material in any “breakout” weapons program, given the complexities associated with reconverting the metal into uranium hexafluoride for subsequent insertion into gas centrifuges for follow-on enrichment to 90 percent.

As such, Iran’s actions actually inhibit its ability to pursue a nuclear weapon, something Blinken ignores completely. But Blinken’s Iran problem goes much further than giving misleading statements about the country’s nuclear capabilities and intent. His prescription for the US rejoining the JCPOA is little more than a poison pill designed to kill the agreement...

... Iran will be able to fulfil its plans for a viable indigenous nuclear energy program, a right guaranteed to it under Article IV of the nonproliferation treaty, to which it is a signatory. This, however, was never the intent of the US...

...Iran’s conservative-dominated parliament has set a deadline of February 21 for the US to lift sanctions that had been re-imposed when Trump removed the US from the JCPOA. If the US fails to act, then Iran will likely suspend the enhanced inspections of its nuclear sites by the IAEA, and further increase its uranium enrichment capacity.

“We have said time and again that if the US decides to go back to its international commitments and lift all the illegal sanctions against Iran, we will go back to the full implementation of JCPOA, which will benefit all sides,” Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, said recently...

...Biden may seek to blame Trump for failing to rejoin the JCPOA, but he only has himself to blame.

50 years ago, Winter Soldier exposed the Vietnam War as one long war crime

Chris Lombardi, February 3, 2021:

“...Despite being largely ignored, the powerful testimony by vets at Winter Soldier alerted the American public that the whole war in Vietnam was an atrocity...

You can now watch footage from that week in Detroit on YouTube: The footage shows a characteristic mix of youth, openness, high spirits and that intense quiet that comes from having seen the indescribable. Day after day, these very young men told horror stories of what had become normal in Vietnam...it’s more important than ever to remember and acknowledge the veterans who peacefully organized to tell truths only they knew...

Their example inspired post 9/11 veterans to hold a four-day event in Silver Spring, Maryland in 2008 called Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan... like the 1971 Detroit event for which it was named, Winter Soldier was mostly ignored by both the mainstream media and the government — as was the smaller “Winter Soldier on the Hill,” when veterans testified before Congress six weeks later.

...Veterans For Peace is planning to hold “Winter Soldier 2021” in March, featuring vets from both of the prior events and a final panel of both current service members and law-enforcement officers now trying to reimagine what public safety means.“
